Followed by Q and A with Faiza Mardzoeki, Writer, Playwright, & Theater Director, based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Dr. Max Lane is author of Unfinished Nation: Indonesia Before and After Suharto (Verso 2008); Catastrophe in Indonesia (Seagull 2010), and An Introduction to the Politics of Indonesian Unions (ISEAS 2019). He is the translator of Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s This Earth of Mankind and its sequels. He has also worked in journalism and democratic rights movements.

Faiza Mardzoeki, is a playwright and director, of the iconic Silent Song of the Genjer Flowers, telling of the experiences of women who survived 14 years of political imprisonment. She has produced many plays and two concerts and  two major arts festivals.  Her works have been screened/performed all over the world.
