The Magician’s Mindset

I'm excited to provide an interactive workshop that invites attendees for a rare look at magic from the magician's point of view. To "let the audience in" to better understand how to think like a magician and recognize the gaps in our logic and sensorial perception which allow the space for wonder and awe to flourish. We will use the performances of magic and mentalism as a foundation to dive deep into rhetoric, psychology, misdirection, and evolutionary behaviors.

Participants will:

• Better understand and prepare against rhetorical deception by exploring the Art of Magic.
• Explore the psychological principles behind the art of deception and how they are employed in everyday life.
• Deconstruct how mechanics of misdirection take advantage of our evolutionary tendencies and behaviors.
• Learn the importance of rhetoric, silence, and suspense in performance.

Rudy Reynoso is a proud University of North Texas alumnus ('14) who served as the first Latino Student Body President and Student Regent. He has shared his unique style of magic and mentalism for more than 20 years across the US and 4 continents abroad. From The MythBusters to Dr. Condoleeza Rice, exclusive corporate events to elementary school assemblies, Rudy is at home performing from humble beginnings to distinguished audiences.

Alongside his brother and fellow UNT alumnus, he produces a charted soccer sports podcast, "The Give N Go," that has led to national recognition. Rudy continues to travel and perform for private events, weddings, and speaking engagements alongside his signature live magic show every weekend in the Historic Rainey St. District of Austin, TX.

A positive and curious attitude! No equipment will be needed. I will bring everything I require. I will ask for volunteers to participate in magic tricks along with demonstrations of mentalism.
